Hi, I’m Celeste. I am a Coachella Valley native meaning I love the sun and heat, and my teeth chatter when it drops below 75 degrees. I have my bachelors degree from UCLA in English, but, in a weird twist of fate, work a lot with numbers. When I’m not focusing on So, you need money., I am probably reading, hiking, cuddling my cats, or creating something yummy to eat (or drink).

My business is named after the iconic Richard Gilmore line that took place in the Gilmore Girls pilot that really started it all and, so, it started it all for me too. I created So, you need money. when I realized that I needed money. So, you need money. began as a personal finance instagram account where I share my financial wellness journey and now I want to help others with their money journey through budgeting and creating their own businesses.

I started budgeting when I went to college in 2013. I used my trusty Google Sheet that I created, but eventually I realized it was bookkeeping not budgeting. In the beginning of 2021, during a transitional period, I knew I needed a real budget. So, I tried different methods then stubbled onto YNAB and the rest is history (a very new history, but still a history).

Budgeting isn’t easy. I know this very well, but like a good friend that really cares about you, yet doesn’t hold back from telling the truth, I am here for you. I am here for the good, the bad, the accomplishments, and the frustrations.

I have worked for local government since early 2019 and my positions have all involved working with business licenses. I have learned the ins and outs for the requirements for starting a business for almost every kind of business. I love working with business licenses. It’s truly a joy seeing people excited to work for themselves and seeing their dreams come true. Also, I created my business on my own, sooo I know what it takes and what goes into it on both sides!
